IAS Attendance
Students will make every effort to attend school every day while enrolled in the Interagency Alternative School (IAS) programs.
FCPS expects students to be in school and follow their assigned schedules unless their absence is excused due to illness, a death in the family, a medical or dental appointment, or religious obligation. Parents are expected to provide written documentation for student absences or late arrival. Parents are asked to call the school attendance line at (571)423-4269, if their child will be late or miss school. Teacher interventions will be implemented to ensure regular attendance.
Attendance is required and is essential to student success. Due to the high demand for this program, it is understood that there is limited space and students must attend and progress in their courses to remain enrolled in the program. Furthermore, VDOE requires IAS to document attendance activities and create both an Attendance Plan and Intervention Plan for students who accrue 5, 10, and 10+ full day unexcused absences during the school year.
-
5 Unexcused Absences – FCPS will notify parents via phone call and/or mailed letter requesting parents contact IAS to develop an Attendance Plan.
-
10 Unexcused Absences – Parents are invited to participate in an Attendance Conference to help develop an Intervention Plan with IAS site Administrator.
-
Additional Unexcused Absences – IAS Attendance Officer is notified. Attendance Officer may file an official Court Referral against the Student and/or Parent.
